Abstract

Abstract

This article aims to comprehensively review the implementation of social emotional learning (SEL) in elementary schools through a literature study approach. SEL has been globally recognized as an effective strategy to improve students' mental health, social competence, and academic outcomes. This study analyzes literature from national and international journals, Indonesian educational regulations, and the theoretical framework developed by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). The findings indicate that the implementation of SEL in elementary schools faces multiple challenges, including limited teacher understanding, lack of training, and insufficient policy support. The study highlights the need for systematic integration of SEL into the curriculum and strengthening teacher capacity. Recommendations are provided for policymakers, schools, and future researchers to support sustainable SEL implementation.
