Abstract

Literacy is one of the UNESCO SDGs indicators of sustainable development in education. The purpose of this study is to describe school habits in building a culture of literacy in their educational units. The qualitative research method with a case study type. Data were collected from the results of observations, interviews, and documentation studies on literacy habits in schools. The results of the study indicate that literacy development in habits through morning literacy habits through constructive activities, providing facilities and infrastructure that support effectiveness, managing the environment to provide a literate situation, selecting materials that can help self-development both knowledge and morals, and public involvement as a catalyst in the realization of shared responsibility for education. The recommendation that building a culture of literacy can start from habits through activities, organizing the environment and involving the public who provide meaningful experiences for students.
