Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the assessment system implemented by English teachers at an elementary school in Sungai Penuh City using the Countenance Stake evaluation model. This study combines a quantitative approach to measure the effectiveness of teacher assessments according to certain standards. The sample was taken through purposive sampling, involving five English teachers from one representative school. The research instrument, a questionnaire compiled based on Minister of Education and Culture Regulations Number 23 of 2016 and Number 21 of 2022, measured aspects of planning, implementation, and follow-up in the assessment. The evaluation results indicate that at the planning stage of the assessment, teachers have met the basic standards, but need improvement in the formulation of assessment guidelines and the development of instruments such as quizzes and oral tests. In implementation, the assessment criteria achieved a good category (68.00), especially in the use of multiple-choice tests, behavioral observations, and group assignments. However, revisions are needed in the assessment of skills and attitudes, as well as in paying attention to students' honesty and punctuality when submitting assignments. At the follow-up stage, the assessment conducted was also categorized as good, with an achievement of 17.60. Teachers have implemented a remedial program and are willing to hold additional sessions for students who need it. However, teachers still do not provide enough enrichment to students who have achieved competency, so that their role in helping friends who have not achieved competency can be increased.
