Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

ELOQUENCE: Journal of Foreign Language is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This statement outlines the ethical behavior expected from all parties involved in the publishing process: Authors, Editors, Peer Reviewers, and Publisher.

⚖️

Ethical Standards & Governance

Our publication ethics principles are based on the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) code of conduct. Published by the Language Development Center, IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo, ELOQUENCE ensures strict adherence to unbiased editorial evaluations, scientific rigor, and transparent peer review.

01

Duties of Editors (Tanggung Jawab Editor)

The Editors of ELOQUENCE are responsible for evaluating submitted manuscripts fairly and objectively to advance quality research in foreign language teaching, linguistics, and literature.

  • ⚖️ Fair Play & Objectivity Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, intellectual content, and alignment with journal scope, regardless of authors' race, gender, nationality, or political belief.
  • ???? Confidentiality Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information regarding submitted manuscripts to anyone other than corresponding authors, reviewers, and potential reviewers.
  • ???? Publication Decisions The Editor-in-Chief maintains ultimate responsibility for deciding which submitted articles will be published, guided by peer review reports and legal requirements regarding libel and plagiarism.
  • ???? Conflict of Interest Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the explicit written consent of the author.
02

Duties of Peer Reviewers (Tanggung Jawab Reviewer)

Peer reviewers play an essential role in assisting editors in making editorial decisions and helping authors improve their papers through critical and constructive evaluation.

  • ???? Standards of Objectivity Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
  • ⏱️ Promptness & Timeliness Any selected referee who feels unqualified or unable to provide a prompt review must notify the editor immediately and decline the invitation.
  • ????️ Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shown to or discussed with others without authorization.
  • ???? Acknowledgement of Sources Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by authors and alert the editor to any substantial similarity or overlap.
03

Duties of Authors (Tanggung Jawab Penulis)

Authors submitting original research to ELOQUENCE must maintain accuracy, ethical integrity, and proper source attribution throughout their manuscript.

  • ✍️ Originality & Plagiarism Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Plagiarism in all its forms (direct, partial, or self-plagiarism) is strictly prohibited.
  • ???? Concurrent Submissions Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is unethical publishing behavior and is completely unacceptable.
  • ???? Authorship & Credit Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.
  • ⚠️ Errors in Published Work When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their duty to promptly notify the editor to retract or correct the paper.

???? Policy on Generative AI & AI-Assisted Technologies

Transparency Rule

ELOQUENCE permits the use of generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT or Grammarly) only to improve the readability and language of the manuscript prior to submission.

  • No AI Authorship: AI technologies cannot be listed as an author or co-author. Authorship implies human accountability.
  • Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must disclose any use of AI tools in their manuscript acknowledging the tool used and purpose.
  • Reviewer & Editor Confidentiality: Reviewers and editors are strictly prohibited from uploading manuscripts into generative AI tools to preserve confidentiality.
