Peer Review

The manuscript review process at Jeksyah: Islamic Economics Journal begins with the initial screening conducted by the editor. At this stage, the submitted manuscript undergoes a preliminary evaluation (desk evaluation) to assess its alignment with the journal’s focus and scope, its similarity level (a maximum of 25% with a 1% threshold per source after excluding references and quotations), using Turnitin as the plagiarism detection tool. In addition, the editor evaluates the methodological integrity, article readability, and conformity with the journal’s prescribed template. Based on this evaluation, the editor decides whether the manuscript proceeds to the review stage or is rejected. This initial screening process typically takes about 1–3 weeks.
Manuscripts that pass the screening are sent to two reviewers through a double-blind review mechanism, which takes around 1–5 weeks to ensure an objective assessment. Once the reviewers provide their feedback, the author is given 1–5 weeks to revise the manuscript according to the reviewers’ comments. The revised manuscript is then re-evaluated by the editorial team to make a final decision whether the article is accepted, requires further revision, or is rejected. If accepted, the manuscript proceeds to the copyediting and layout editing stage before publication in the current issue. Overall, the process from submission to publication takes approximately four weeks to five months, depending on the number of review cycles required and the responsiveness of the authors, editors, and reviewers.
