The Effect of the Use of Pegon Aceh Arabic Text Media on the Reading Ability (Mahārah al-Qirā'ah) of Grade VIII Students of MTs Al-Huda, Gorontalo City

This study aims to analyze the influence of the use of Pegon Aceh Arabic Text Media on the reading ability of grade VIII students of MTs Al-Huda Gorontalo City. The research problem focuses on students' difficulties in recognizing letters, pronouncing words, and understanding the content of Arabic readings that use standard scripts, so that their reading skills have not developed optimally. To answer this problem, this study used a quasi-experimental design involving two groups, namely the experimental class that received treatment using the Aceh Pegon Arabic Text and the control class that received learning with conventional media. Pre-test and post-test instruments are applied to measure reading ability which includes students' accuracy, fluency, and comprehension of text. The results showed that the experimental class experienced a much more significant improvement in reading ability compared to the control class. Pegon Aceh Arabic Text Media helps students recognize phonetic patterns more clearly, facilitates the decoding process, and improves reading fluency. In addition, the use of this media has a positive impact on students' confidence and involvement during the learning process. Statistical analysis confirmed the existence of significant differences between the two groups after treatment was given. This study concludes that the Pegon Aceh Arabic Text Media is an effective, relevant, and feasible learning approach to improve the reading ability of madrasah students. This media not only strengthens the linguistic aspect, but also presents learning that is more contextual and in harmony with the archipelago's Islamic literacy tradition, so that it has great potential to be developed in Arabic language learning in various educational units.
