This study examines the role of the Dero dance as a cultural mechanism that strengthens interreligious social cohesion in Banggai Regency. The research problem focuses on how Dero functions as a social interaction space that unites multireligious communities. A descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through remote interviews, visual documentation, and document analysis of Dero practices within the local social context. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns of meaning and cultural mechanisms embedded in participants’ experiences. The findings indicate that Dero serves as a symbol of togetherness by creating an equalizing space through its circular formation, collective rhythm, and interreligious participation. Cultural adaptations to specific religious norms demonstrate value negotiation that enhances tolerance. Social capital, particularly through the role of youth in maintaining harmony, supports Dero as a cultural practice that fosters positive intergroup relations. However, the effectiveness of Dero is contextual, as it cannot always mitigate structural tensions beyond the ritual sphere. The study concludes that Dero is a significant cultural instrument for strengthening social cohesion. Strengthening moderation through cultural practices requires policy support, multicultural education, and cultural preservation. Dero may serve as a model for social harmony in plural societies.
