Abstrak

This study examines the integration of spirituality and productivity within the Qur’anic work ethic by analyzing three key verses—Qur’an 62:10, 67:15, and 28:77—and comparing findings from classical tafsir, modern exegesis, and contemporary literature published between 2019 and 2024. The objective is to formulate a comprehensive conceptual framework of the Islamic work ethic and articulate its relevance to character development and community empowerment. This research employs a library-based methodology using textual, comparative, and conceptual analysis that integrates linguistic data, exegetical interpretation, and empirical studies on workplace spirituality and productivity. The findings indicate that the Qur’anic work ethic consists of four major dimensions: spiritual, ethical, productive, and social. Qur’an 62:10 asserts that work is a continuation of ritual worship and functions as an extension of spiritual consciousness. Qur’an 67:15 highlights work as an act of exploration, innovation, and utilization of the earth as an expression of gratitude. Qur’an 28:77 provides principles of balance between worldly pursuits and the hereafter while emphasizing ethical conduct that prevents destructive behavior. Cross-literature analysis shows that these Qur’anic values align with contemporary findings on integrity, intrinsic motivation, discipline, and sustainable productivity. The study concludes that the Qur’anic work ethic offers a holistic value system relevant to current economic and social challenges and contributes significantly to community empowerment models grounded in spirituality and morality. This research addresses the gap in previous literature by offering an integrated model that links spiritual, ethical, productive, and social dimensions into a unified framework.
