Abstract

Divorce, as one of the things that religion allows but is the thing that is most hated, has a huge impact on children, parents and families. Divorce cases seem to be the main solution in overcoming family conflicts. This is proven by the large number of divorce cases that occur every year. By the end of 2023, the number of Pamekasan residents who are widows and widowers will reach thousands. Of the cases received by the religious court, the majority of cases were filed by the wife. The aim of this research is to find out what mediation efforts the Pamekasan Religious Court has made in reducing the divorce rate? This research is field research using descriptive qualitative methods. In collecting data, researchers used observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results of this research show that mediation efforts to reduce the divorce rate in the Pamekasan Religious Court are by implementing rules in accordance with PERMA procedures no. 1 of 2016 includes carrying out two stages of mediation, namely the pre-mediation stage and the mediation process stage. Mediation at the Pamekasan Religious Court was not optimally successful due to the public's wrong perception about the Religious Court. People think that the Pamekasan Religious Court is a place to buy divorce papers, not a place to reconcile, so many parties do not want to mediate and continue the divorce.
