Abstract

Abstract: Reading the Qur'an plays an important role in shaping children's religious character and strengthening religious literacy from an early age. However, in rural communities, children's interest in reading the Qur’an still faces several challenges, such as limited reading ability, a shortage of religious teachers, and a lack of family guidance. This study aims to describe the dynamics of children's interest in reading the Qur’an in Sogu Village and to identify the factors influencing it. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation during mentoring activities. The results show that children's interest in reading the Qur’an in Sogu

Village is influenced by three main factors: family support, social environment, and learning methods used in Qur’anic learning activities. Parental support and a positive peer environment significantly encourage children's motivation to participate in Qur’anic reading activities. In addition, the implementation of more interactive and varied learning methods helps increase children's participation and enthusiasm in learning the Qur’an. The mentoring activities conducted in this study also indicate positive changes, particularly in the increased attendance and engagement of children in Qur’anic learning sessions. Therefore, strengthening religious literacy in rural communities requires collaboration between families, teachers, and the community to create a supportive learning environment that fosters children's interest in reading the Qur’an sustainably.
